Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located? Where do you tutor?
In-person & Online Sessions
Our home is Newtown, Pennsylvania, but we offer in-person sessions to students in PA (Bucks County area), NJ (Mercer & Hunterdon County areas), and MA (Suffolk County & Boston area). We provide online sessions for learners across the U.S and internationally!
We do not have a learning center; we meet with our learners in-person or online. In-person sessions are often held in a mutual location, such as a library. In-home sessions are an option for many NJ & PA students and all families in the Newtown, PA area.
What do you charge? How does pricing work?
Only pay for the services your learner needs.
Pricing is subjective to the student's needs, subject(s), and preparation time required by the tutor. All of our tutors HAND-MAKE & SELECT all materials (e.g. powerpoints, notes), games, rubrics, learning goals, and collect data for progress reports! We don't assign boring workbook pages like many chain tutoring centers. Our ability to thoroughly customize learning allows us to make tutoring effective and FUN, but also requires LLT tutors to prepare more than your average tutor (which isn't us).
Tutor experience (lead LLT tutor vs. LLT tutor) and location are considered when determining your session rate. Lead LLT tutors, such as Mikala- our founder, possess greater experince than other LLT tutors. Online and out-of-home sessions do not receive travel compensation.
If you have a learning budget or speficic learner needs, we can work with you to propose services that are custom for your family. We're all about being individualized!

Is there a contract?
Start & Stop Tutoring at your convenience.
Every new family is required to sign a contract upon tutoring with us, but it states our practices and policies- it is NOT time-bound.
You are not obligated to stay with your tutor. You may stop at any point without penalty; we don't believe in unnecessary fees. However, we ask that families please carefully make their decision. As time slots become available, they may be filled with other students. We can not guarantee that we will have availability if you choose to start tutoring again. We will work to accommodate your needs as best as possible!
